…… since I last posted. Need to make more effort, if only to aid my rubbish memory.
So Sue’s various injuries have settled down & we’re back climbing. Whilst looking through the guidebook for a suitable crag we came across Jack Scout Crag. The massive draw was that it was a sea cliff, the downside being that it was in Lancashire, home of the dreadful chossy cliffs from hell.
After a tour of the smaller roads in Silverdale we finally found it, only to find that the tide was in and we couldn’t get to the base of the cliff. After a detour along the top followed by the best tiny, overgrown footpath IN THE WORLD, right along the top of the cliff with only small trees stopping us from falling, we arrived at the other end. Initially it looked promising but then I looked at the top outs. We ran away. No obvious top, copious vegetation & some loose looking rock; too much for me.
Warton Main Quarry is massive, and loose. Warton Lower Quarry was tiny & dirty. Finally we walked up to Warton Pinnacles, hidden away in a native woodland. They were tiny but the limestone was perfect, almost French! Each route was brilliant, if they were all stacked on top of each other it would be an awesome route. Might even visit some of the other sections at some point.
